Frequently Asked Questions

Does my institution need to own GPU hardware?

For grant-funded deployments (common at community colleges), the institution owns the hardware and licenses 3COL from Civic Compute.

What grant funding applies?

Perkins V, NSF ATE grants, and state-level capital equipment funds (e.g., TCSG Capital Equipment Grant in Georgia) are all applicable for GPU hardware procurement. We’ll help you identify the right path.

Is student data kept private?

Yes. 3COL is air-gapped from your institution’s internal networks. Civic Compute has zero access to your institutional data. All compute is sovereign — job data stays within your facility or in S3 locations that your institution controlls.

How long does deployment take?

A standard community college deployment from contract signing to go-live typically takes 60–90 days, including hardware installation (for cooperative deployments), SLURM configuration, SSO integration, and staff training.
